Route 6 Police Search Linked To Mahopac Murder, Possible Harrison Suicide

The flurry of state and local police activity during the day Tuesday on the Jefferson Valley/Shrub Oak Route 6 corridor was the result of a search for evidence in the murder last Thursday of a 75-year-old Mahopac woman in the latest chain of events in the case, according to multiple sources. Investigators searched a wooded area off Route 6, some of whom were wearing plastic gloves and placing an unidentified object, possibly a murder weapon, in a box, according to News 12. The Yorktown Police Department said during the search that residents should not be alarmed, but have not yet disclosed the reason for the enhanced presence of state and local police in the area.
