The flurry of state and local police activity during the day Tuesday on the Jefferson Valley/Shrub Oak Route 6 corridor was the result of a search for evidence in the murder last Thursday of a 75-year-old Mahopac woman in the latest chain of events in the case, according to multiple sources. Investigators searched a wooded area off Route 6, some of whom were wearing plastic gloves and placing an unidentified object in a box.
