Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam, Inc. will be opening its 18th annual Tree of Life celebration with a tree lighting ceremony at the Holiday Inn on Wednesday, Dec. 2. The event, the hospice's second tree lighting of the season, is free to the public and set to begin at 6 p.m. The ceremony will be hosted by Lisa LaRocca, of News12. Festive music will be provided by the Fox Lane Chamber Choir and the Horace Greeley Madrigal Choir.

To the delight of holiday shoppers, and mall employees in need of extra cash, several major area shopping centers will be open all or part of Thanksgiving Day. The Galleria at White Plains opens at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving and closes at 1 a.m. The mall will reopen at 6 a.m. on Black Friday and close at 10 p.m. Palisades Center in West Nyack will be open from 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving until 1 a.m. on Friday.

Teen Charged With Stealing From Jefferson Valley Mall
An 18-year-old male, whose name is being withheld due to possible youthful offender status, has been charged with petty larceny, a class A misdemeanor, according to Yorktown police. Officers responded to a report of a shoplifter in custody at Sears in the Jefferson Valley Mall, 600 Lee Blvd., on Friday, Nov.13, officials report.

Santa's Arrival Kicks Off Jefferson Valley Mall Holiday Season
Shoppers can take advantage of 23 hours of shopping on Thanksgiving and Black Friday, extended shopping hours throughout December and savings with a variety of sales and promotional offers.
